Volunteer

Volunteers extend CHIOC's resources and increase its ability to serve more clients, helping to ensure that all uninsured children in Orange County would be matched with quality and affordable health care.

Current Opportunities

OC Cares Program Volunteer

Purpose: Help outreach to families whose children are not eligible for insurance and facilitate their medical and dental care at local community clinics.

Responsibilities:

  • Make calls to families of uninsured children
  • Schedule appointments at local clinics
  • Help follow-up with families
  • Record information at all points of the process
  • Report to Program Assistant and OC Cares Coordinator

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Good communication skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Commit at least 5 hours a week for at least 4 months

Health Care Access Coordinator

Purpose: To increase retention and utilization of health services to our members.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow-up with families that we have enrolled into health programs in the past.
  • Assure that families are approved into program, utilize program, and renew at anniversary date
  • Help families with any health program related issues that they may have

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Must pass a background check
  • Bilingual in Spanish

Health Care Referrals Aid

Purpose: Outreach to families interested in finding low cost insurance options

Responsibilities:

  • Call families, helping them to determine their eligibility
  • Provide families with accurate information on how to apply
  • Provide families with accurate details of health programs

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Must pass a background check
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Korean, or Vietnamese

Administrative Volunteer

Purpose: To increase the efficiency of our office through organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones
  • Check Voicemails, and return phone calls
  • Prepare outreach materials for health fairs

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Good communication skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish

Special Event Volunteer

Purpose: Attend community events and health fairs, in order to promote our organization and the services that we provide.

Responsibilities:

  • Help set up and clean up all materials for an event
  • Hand out flyers, and inform families about our services

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Good communication skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
