CHI OC Volunteers

Our interns are an important part of the daily operations of our office. If you would like to join our team to help ensure that all uninsured children and families in Orange County will be matched with quality and affordable health care and social services programs please fill out an application and send it to help@chioc.org.  If you are interested in interning with our Kids Vision for Life program you can find more information here. We are registered at most local universities and colleges to participate in internship programs including CSUF, UCI, CSULB, etc.

Purpose of Internship Position:

At CHI OC, interns:

  • Increase the level of impact that CHI OC has in the community
  • Help match Orange County families with affordable health care and social service programs
  • Improve the health of the community through assisting families

Benefits of Interning:

As an intern with CHI OC, you will:

  • Learn more about State and County health programs, social service programs, community resources, and how non-profits work
  • Network with non-profits and organizations dedicated to improving the lives of Orange County families
  • Become a Certified Application Assistant through provided CAA training
  • Gain experience working with clients and in an office setting

Intern Responsibilities and Duties:

As an intern with CHI OC, you will:

  • Outreach to families in office and at community events
  • Administrative support of staff and organization
  • Make referral calls and help answer main office line
  • Determine preliminary eligibility for health insurance and refer to nearest representative
  • Assist our organization in reaching and assisting more potential clients
  • Screen elementary school students for vision problems and participate in mobile vision clinics with Kids Vision for Life

Qualifications:

To be an intern with CHI OC, you must:

  • Be a high school graduate (or have a GED)
  • Have good communication skills (Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese preferred)
  • Possess basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Commit to at least 4 months of service (or your required internship hours)
  • Be enrolled in an internship class with your school

  • Monday – Thursday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
